I want to put a disclaimer on the front end of this video. This video is to take someone that likes the look but really doesn’t know much about it into being able to rock athleisure well a couple times a week. If you are crossfit open competitor or a college soccer player or a famous rapper and eat sleep breath athleisure this video probably isn’t for you.
All right let's jump right into this. Probably the biggest mistake I see people make is because it's athleisure they think it's ok to leave behind the basic fundamentals rules of style and add wild colors, patterns, and poor fitting clothes. We are going to be building off of the 6 rules of style concept here, if you haven’t watched that it's probably my best video I’ve done, and pack’s in basically everything you need to know about style in 1 short video. (Link to video). I highly recommend you watch that if you haven’t already.
Ok first thing let's talk about it color. If you are wanting to add a few outfits to your wardrobe You only need 3 different colors. White, gray and black but the best of these colors is black. The direction you want to go with this is understanded, well fitted and cool. And to make this even simpler just go with black. Black athleisure outfits just work all the time. Head to toe. No kidding, try it. You will thank me later.
The next thing you want to consider is fit. Go with fitted trainers and a fitted hoodie rather than something baggy. I’m not saying baggy can’t ever work, or even colors cant ever work but I’m just saying it's so much more complicated and if you mess it up you will look like dork. And honestly out of the people that I see that have the best athleisure style they tend to stick with white, gray and black. Here are some examples to get your brain thinking the right way.
NExt is texture. Since athleisure only fit’s in the super casual relm you need to have fabrics that also fit in the realm namely cotton. This is one rule you really don’t want to break. Were with a pair of denim jeans, you could wear oxford cotton, cotton, linie or even more denim with suede shoes you don’t want that with athleisure. It should all be plain cotton
The last point you want to consider is what kind of shoes you are wearing. This is where most people try to add their flair (show bad examples) but still stick with a simple shoe, with an athletic look that’s either white or black. Here are some that I recommend.
If you want me to make this even simpler for you and you just want to wear what I wear, look in the description box for links to my favorite go to athleisure outfit. There’s no discount code, this is not sponsored, Adidas are not paying me to tell you this.(cut to, But adidas if your watching this you should pay me, for real) It’s just what I’ve found that works best for me. There are plenty of other great brands out there with awesome athleisure looks, this is just my favorite.
Here are a few more examples to help get your mojo going.
There you go! Everything you need to know to rock athleisure like a pro.
I mentioned it in the beginning of this video but I really I think you should watch my 6 rules to style. It’s honestly in my opinion the most helpful video I have ever made. So check it out that will give you a
